Kathryn Mahan
INTERIM ARTISTIC CO-DIRECTOR and CONDUCTOR
Kathryn Mahan is a seasoned choral conductor who most often applies her talents to projects and organizations with social impact. Over the last 20 years, she's led four benefit concerts that featured 100+ singers and raised more than $260,000 for breast cancer support and to end bullying. She’s passionate about choral music’s unique ability to build community, heal hearts and strengthen spirits, and is thrilled to be working with the Midcoast Community Chorus this fall.
From 1994 to 2001, she served as co-artistic director of One Voice, Charlotte’s Gay, Lesbian and Gay Affirmative Chorus. Kathryn graduated from Queens University in Charlotte, NC, where she studied with the late Dr. Mary Nell Saunders. After college, she spent a decade singing with Charlotte’s Oratorio Singers, where she served on the Board of Directors and performed with the Chamber Singers. She's long been a singer in various choirs and a favorite interim director for groups in her previous hometown.
In her corporate role, she leads change management and communications for the global IT team at Trane Technologies. After vacationing in Maine for over 15 years, she's proud to be in her third year as a Camden resident.

Kim Murphy
INTERIM ARTISTIC CO-DIRECTOR and CONDUCTOR
Kimberly Murphy, former choral director at Camden Hills Regional High School, is the current director of the Penobscot Bay Singers and is honored to be able to work with MidCoast Community Chorus as an interim director. In addition to teaching high school music, Kim has been a guest conductor at many festivals throughout the State of Maine. She completed her studies at Boston University and Duquesne University with degrees in Music Education andMusic Therapy. Kim taught music in Maine for 34 years before retiring in June of 2022.
A National Board-Certified Teacher, Kim has received many recognitions over the years, including the 2007 MMEA District III Music Teacher of the Year, the 2019 MMEA Teacher of the Year, and the 2019 Maine ACDA Cox-Russell Distinguished Choir Director Award and the MMEA District III Distinguished Service Award in 2022. She has held leadership roles throughout Maine’s music organizations, including Maine ACDA President, Maine ACDA Membership Chair, MMEA District III Secretary, and MMEA All State Choir manager.
In addition to conducting, Kim sings with local community groups and area church choirs. She also finds time to pursue her passion: directing musical theater productions. She was the CHRHS Fall Musical Director for 24 years, with favorite titles being Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Shrek the Musical, and Into the Heights. Kim continues to direct musical theater at local middle schools, community theater venues and summer music theater camps.
She strongly believes that singing is a healthy, live-giving art; and hopes you enjoy the program.

Matt Mainster
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR and ACCOMPANIST
Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Organ Performance, Piano Performance and Sacred Music from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn a Master of Music in Organ Performance from the Yale School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut. Matt has held Director of Music and/or Organist positions at several churches in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. He was on faculty at the Maryland Conservatory of Music, and now he teaches private lessons locally.

Anna Jones
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Anna is a lifelong musician and singer and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Critical Studies from the California Institute of the Arts. With over 15 years of office experience, Anna has worked in both the corporate and non-profit worlds as an administrator and manager.
Additionally, Anna provides artist management services for the musical icons Sharon Robinson and Gordon Bok. Anna also performs around New England as the contralto voice and guitar player in the band The Mermaids, and is active in community theater.
