We are a community chorus – which means that we warmly welcome all those who love to sing, love to learn, and are happy to be a part of this community which also looks for ways in which to support the needs of our neighbors. We welcome singers who read music and those who don't; those who learn best by ear; those who have sung in groups before and those who have only sung in the shower. We include folks from their teens through their nineties; members who love classical music and others who prefer country, pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul – you name it. We’ve sung in over 20 different languages (yes, including English!). No auditions are needed to join us….just a commitment to show up for rehearsals and help us grow, improve, support our goals and enjoy singing as a member of Midcoast Community Chorus.
We are is a vibrant and dynamic 5013c non-profit organization providing choral programs and training for all ages and voices. We generally perform two concerts a year in June and January. Our concerts typically sellout and a portion of our proceeds is donated to selected local non-profits performing important work in our communities. We rehearse on Mondays from 6:30 – 8:30 at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm Street in Camden.
Auditions are not required but all new members will be provided a voice placement check so that you are singing within your appropriate vocal range. Midcoast Community Chorus welcomes children age 13 and older as active choristers. Recognizing that the developmental needs of young people require guidance and support in order to assist them to succeed in a choral group, children age 15 or younger must be accompanied by a guardian or designated mentor at all times during rehearsals, sectionals and performances. The parent/guardian of the youth must personally register their child and acknowledge/ agree to comply with Midcoast Community Chorus youth chorister policies. Youth 16 or older must be registered by their parent/guardian but are not required to have an assigned mentor for rehearsals.
